You’ll also consider dilution, ingredient compatibility, client needs, contraindications, and other safety factors when planning professional applications. What you will learn 1. Explain foundational principles of botanical ingredients and aromatherapy including botanical classification, extraction methods, aromatic constituents, and their general applications in professional skin care. 2. Evaluate botanical ingredients, essential oils, carrier oils, hydrosols, and other plant-derived materials based on their properties, intended cosmetic applications, compatibility, and appropriate professional use. 3. Apply principles of botanical formulation and aromatherapy to the development and selection of professional skin-care preparations while considering formulation balance, ingredient interactions, dilution, safety, and client-specific considerations. 4. Demonstrate professional decision-making in the selection and application of botanical and aromatherapy-based treatments, including recognition of contraindications, safety considerations, appropriate treatment modifications, and circumstances requiring referral.
