About the course

OE 401: Oncology Skin Care and Corrective Camouflage Continuing education: NCEA-approved continuing education, 10 CEs Estimated learning time: 18 hours of live instruction over 12 weeks Course format: Live Master Track, 90 minutes per week Kit: Required Kit B, purchased separately About the course This course examines skin changes and appearance concerns associated with cancer and its treatment, and how they may affect esthetic care and corrective camouflage. Through live weekly sessions, you’ll consider client history, skin integrity, treatment goals, and appearance needs while developing safety-focused strategies. The course also addresses when to modify or postpone a service, seek medical clearance, collaborate with other professionals, or refer a client. What you will learn 1. Analyze oncology-related and treatment-related skin changes, healing considerations, sensitivity, pigmentation changes, and appearance concerns that may influence esthetic and corrective camouflage decision-making. 2. Differentiate appropriate esthetic and camouflage support from findings, symptoms, treatment conditions, or client circumstances that require modification, postponement, medical clearance, collaboration, or referral. 3. Evaluate client history, current cancer-treatment status, skin integrity, visible concerns, treatment goals, and psychosocial appearance needs to determine individualized, safety-focused esthetic and corrective camouflage strategies. 4. Formulate comprehensive, scope-appropriate care plans that integrate skin-supportive esthetic services, corrective camouflage techniques, client education, professional communication, documentation, aftercare, and referral awareness while maintaining appropriate oncology-related professional boundaries.
